NHLPA GOALS & DREAMS CONTRIBUTES 10 SETS OF GEAR TO THE DURHAM FAMILY ADVISORY BOARDS’ HOCKEY FORE ALL INITIATIVE 

The DURHAM FAMILY ADVISORY BOARD and Whitby Minor Hockey Association would like to express our deepest gratitude to the NHLPA Goals & Dreams program for their incredible donation of 10 sets of hockey equipment to our new “Hockey for All” Initiative, which began in 2024.

This generous contribution is a significant step forward in our mission to make hockey accessible to every child in our community, regardless of their financial circumstances. For many children, the dream of playing hockey is often out of reach due to financial barriers. 

The cost of equipment, registration fees, and other expenses can make it difficult for families to afford the sport. 

The “Hockey for All” Initiative aims to break down these barriers, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to experience the joy and benefits of playing hockey, regardless of their financial situation. 

We are extremely excited about this program and the opportunities it will create for young athletes. Thanks to partners like the NHLPA, more kids will be able to experience the thrill and camaraderie that comes with playing this great sport. 

Hockey offers not only physical benefits but also life skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and confidence —skills that these children will carry with them both on and off the ice. NHLPA Goals & Dreams’ donation combined with the monies raised during the Durham Family Advisory Board’s Charity Golf Classic, held on June 25th at Deer Creek in Ajax, will mean more kids on the ice! 

The tournament was a tremendous success, raising over $90,000. The proceeds will support the Canadian Spinal Cord Research Organization, DFAB. And of course, Hockey Fore All!
